The baby boy weighed seven pounds, eight ounces (3.5 kilograms). Raminder, the boy’s aunt, said she prayed all night the birth would be in the New Year.

“We were all so excited and eagerly waiting at home—I kept calling my brother all night, counting down the hours with him until midnight,” she said.

Proud dad Rupinder is grateful to the staff for caring for his family.

“非常感谢你much to the staff and doctors at HSC. All of them were really nice and it was such a good experience, we were so lucky to be here,” he said.

The family moved from India to Canada 10 years ago.

“Our families back home can’t wait to meet him this summer, they were all crying tears of joy,” he said. “Thank you to our God for the greatest gift in the New Year.”

Both mom and baby are recovering well and enjoying their brand new, private patient rooms.
